Elegance Brushes, Essentials – A Free LR4 Presets Pack

by Gavin Seim: Sometime back I made a little pack of brush presets for Lightroom and it got download over 25,000 times. With the release of Lightroom 4 and it’s new develop tools, I decided it was time to revisit brushes. I started over and made a brand new pack of  free brush presets for LR4. There powerful new tools in LR4 brushes, including white balance, better softening, better tone control and more. If you still use LR2-3 check out the old brushes.

This FREE Essentials pack has six brush presets that cover, well the essentials. For some of you that may be enough. But for the rest..

..This time I went further. I made the The Elegance Brush Collection. A complete pack of more than 20 LR4 brushes that cover everything essentials to creative tools like the warming brush, a highlight brush, the HDR brush and lots more. A simple elegant, reasonably priced brush toolkit for those of us that want more and to support my work. You can see a complete list of all brushes and the first 6 that are in this free pack on the product page.

You can download the FREE essentials set below. As you do please share this post with others.

  1. Hi Gavin,

How do I enable using the brushes in LR4? I can’t figure out how to get them into LR. Never used anything outside of LR before so need some instruction. Video available? I wanted to try the free brushes to see how they work before ordering the full set.

    Thanks.

    1. Hey Keith. Just watch the video on the Elegance Brushes page or look in the PDF instructions that come with the download. It gives the details.

  2. I am having ALL sorts of problems with installing brushes into LR 4.3. First, I purchased a preset package from a vendor and downloaded it. I followed the instructions to a “T” and even watched a few different videos detailing out what I need to do and where I need to look. No luck. In fact, when I tried to extract those ones I had a message pop up something about encryption loss. So I found your website while trying to figure out where I went wrong and how to fix it. I downloaded your Elegance brushes but I cannot even GET to the point where I’m extracting them because I get an error message that says something about an unexpected error but then I can get past that but it doesn’t matter what folder I select to extract them into, it says that they are already there and do I want to overwrite them. WHAT? I tried to save to my desktop, I created my own preset folder in my Documents….doesn’t matter where I do it I get that same problem.

    1. Sounds like you may have a problem with your unzip utilty. We support our own products, so if you’re having trouble just give me a call or email. We’ll get you rolling.

      Gav

  3. Thanks Gavin, can’t wait to try these.
I’d also like to know if you have a “Complete Set” for LR-4, a comprehensive set of tools, brushes, actions.
    Thanks,
    Dodd

  4. Hi, I am keen to try the brush presets out, but I’m wondering if I install them like other presets I’ve tried, or do they get added to the brush tool somehow?
    Excuse my ignorance!! LOL
    Thanks 🙂

About the Author

Glad you're here.

I'm from WA State USA and started studying photography in 97. I started work as a pro (using that word loosely because I sucked) using film at age 16. I learned fast but was not as easy to find training then. Sometimes I beat my head against the wall until I figured stuff out.

As digital dawned I went all in and got to study with masters like Ken Whitmire. In 09 I founded the Pro Photo Show podcast. I started promoting tone-focused editing. When Lightroom arrived, I started developing tools to make editing and workflow better.

20 years of study and photography around the country earned me a Master of Photography (M.Photog) from PPA. I got to see my workshops and tools featured in publications across the industry. Once I even won the prestigious HotOne award for my "EXposed" light and tone workshop.

Wanting something calmer, I moved to Mexico in 2017. It's a land of magical light. I'm here now exploring light and trying to master my weak areas. I make videos of that for my Youtube channel, sharing what I learn. I hope you'll stick around and be part of Light Hunters Tribe... Gavin
