Canon 1200mm f5.6 For Sale. Buy yourself the big one!

Canon 1200mm f5.6 telephotoThe legend of lenses! Like Beowulf, or Hercules. But this one is real…

The Canon 1200mm f5.6 L lens. It came out in 1993, was dropped around 2005, and weighed over 35 pounds. It was an amazing piece of glass, but it would drain about 90 grand out of your checkbook.

Now those of you who want to really REACH OUT can have one your very own. The B&H used department has gotten their hands on one and it’s on their website for $99,000.00 No that’s not a typo.

How about that, a lens that goes up in value! B&H even tried it out, and did a review with samples.

Go ahead add this to your cart. We’ll even let you bring it over for a PPS quality test 🙂

(Thanks BMG)

  1. Wow! This would be one of those situations where you would want to attach your tripod to the lens and not the camera body!

  2. Duh! ALL of the canon primes, and many of the larder telephoto lenses attach to the tripod and do not use the camera body as an attach point.

About the Author

Glad you're here.

I'm from WA State USA and started studying photography in 97. I started work as a pro (using that word loosely because I sucked) using film at age 16. I learned fast but was not as easy to find training then. Sometimes I beat my head against the wall until I figured stuff out.

As digital dawned I went all in and got to study with masters like Ken Whitmire. In 09 I founded the Pro Photo Show podcast. I started promoting tone-focused editing. When Lightroom arrived, I started developing tools to make editing and workflow better.

20 years of study and photography around the country earned me a Master of Photography (M.Photog) from PPA. I got to see my workshops and tools featured in publications across the industry. Once I even won the prestigious HotOne award for my "EXposed" light and tone workshop.

Wanting something calmer, I moved to Mexico in 2017. It's a land of magical light. I'm here now exploring light and trying to master my weak areas. I make videos of that for my Youtube channel, sharing what I learn. I hope you'll stick around and be part of Light Hunters Tribe... Gavin
