Well it looks like both Canon and Nikon shooters got their much rumored gear this week! Nikon officially announced their newest DSLR camera bodies the D300 and the D3 today. Here is a quick run down of some of the specs.
D3
body only price of $4999 will be available in November:
- 12.1-megapixel FX format (full frame) CMOS sensor
- 3-inch, 190,000-pixel VGA viewfinder with a 170-degree viewing angle and live view
- 51-point autofocus system with 15 cross-type AF points
- 200-6400 ISO range. When set to Hi 2 Mode has an ISO equivalent of 25,600. That is just insane (and probably extremely noisy! We’ll have to wait and see.)
- dual CF cards slots
D300
body only price of $1799 will be available in November:
- 12.3 megapixel DX format CMOS sensor
- 3-inch, 190,000-pixel VGA viewfinder with a 170-degree viewing angle and live view
- HDMI support with 1080i playback
- 200-3200 ISO range

Now Im really going to have a hard time deciding….the D300 or a new lens?
