Who is Gavin Seim.

Gavin is a PPA Master Photographer (M.Photog) born in Seattle, Washington, USA. He began his studies in 1997 at age 12 and started creating the original Lightroom presets and master photo tools in 2006. His award-winning photos, workshops, and tools have been published worldwide as he seeks to simplify techniques for tone, color, and feeling in the photograph.

In 2022, Gavin created the Shadow Method. Looking for a better way to teach, he flipped the script on how photography has been taught for over 150 years. In 2026, he released the Shadow Master Class after years of testing and teaching the method live to photographers around the globe.

Gavin knows people are rightly skeptical of tools and courses in today's internet market. So to ensure every product he creates for photographers is backed by service and confidence, he began to offer his 31-day No-Regrets Guarantee! Rare in an industry of digital photo products usually backed by nothing.

Gavin started working professionally at age 16. It was not easy to find training then. But 25 years in the trenches taught him that a Master's is just the start. A well-known investigative journalist, he sought a quieter place and in 2017, moved to Mexico, exploring the magical light and culture of the South as he continues creating tools and workshops, hosting the Pro Photo Podcast, and working on portrait, fashion, and cultural projects.
