  1. Hey Gavin,
I happened upon your podcast while cruising the internet and thoroughly enjoyed it. I got a lot out of it, it was good to hear your thoughts on how you are starting to interact with venues, and I appreciate your generosity with your sharing of your time, experience and information. Will definitely be exploring your offerings more in depth. Be well! Thank you!

  2. 25 years old, 1st kid, no sleep 🙂 very enjoyable. I’d listened to parts of the podcast before, but learning more of the personal side was very helpful in connecting with you, and understanding where you are in your Career, the choices and style you are pursuing. I found myself reflecting a number of similar things, as I do take great photos, but up against many I can find online, I realize they are wonderful images. What I had to realize, and I think you are realizing it, is there are lots and lots of good artists, photographers, etc. putting their best stuff online. What we don’t see is their struggles, not so goods, etc. and the best folks seem to be the most humble. Does your belief system inform your art, limit the kind of photography you will do for a commission?

  3. That was an interesting podcast Gavin. Very personal and a good break from the usual. I may not always agree with your points of view, but I certainly respect your honesty and willingness to put yourself out there like that.

About the Author

Glad you're here.

I'm from WA State USA and started studying photography in 97. I started work as a pro (using that word loosely because I sucked) using film at age 16. I learned fast but was not as easy to find training then. Sometimes I beat my head against the wall until I figured stuff out.

As digital dawned I went all in and got to study with masters like Ken Whitmire. In 09 I founded the Pro Photo Show podcast. I started promoting tone-focused editing. When Lightroom arrived, I started developing tools to make editing and workflow better.

20 years of study and photography around the country earned me a Master of Photography (M.Photog) from PPA. I got to see my workshops and tools featured in publications across the industry. Once I even won the prestigious HotOne award for my "EXposed" light and tone workshop.

Wanting something calmer, I moved to Mexico in 2017. It's a land of magical light. I'm here now exploring light and trying to master my weak areas. I make videos of that for my Youtube channel, sharing what I learn. I hope you'll stick around and be part of Light Hunters Tribe... Gavin
