Dynamic range is an art and I I taught a lot of classes on it in the early days of stacking and plugins. But I learned it's the balance if light and dark and the extraction of detail all combined. It's hard because it's easily overdone. There truth is that balanced perfectly single files from todays cameras give the most rich color and dynamic range you can imagine.
