I was mesmerized by the complexity of steps and sheer awesomeness of the machines used to make these chips. I only wish they gave a little more detail on what they were doing to the wafers (super secret maybe). In any case, I now have a bit more respect for “the card”. Wow! After watching this video I don’t think the cards are to expensive any more!
The tech must be fairly mature now, my 8GB usb key has been washed several times and it has never missed a beat.
Funny to think that ’twas only a ‘few’ years ago my 3.5″ floppy didnt fair so well on a similar wash – oh how i lamented loosing a whopping 1.4Mb…

Ya know what stuck in my head after watching the video? the repetitive tasks, the checking, the packaging… That’s my idea of a nightmare. I’m so thankful I’ve been lucky enough to have had the opportunity to pursue photography as an occupation.
My cards feel that bit more special and maybe under priced… but don’t go telling Sandisk 😉
