PPS Roundatble #7 Forum Discussion

The Orphan Works Act of 2008 does not look good for artist copyrights. Take action here, and read our more in depth article here.

Scott likes his mini LED light, and you can get bigger one too. Looks interesting but spendy.

Photogs are rallying for their photo rights in Los Angeles, & Radio Poppers remote triggers look interesting.

Gavin uses In Design for albums, and New School Photo has a video for it. He also recovered his corrupted images using Card Raider for mac. On teh PC side you can try PC Inspector. It was recommended by a user on this forum thread.

Picks of the week…
Gavin is Tamrac Express 7 Camera bag.
Dennis is NAAP.
Chris is Apple iMac.
Brady is Audio Technica ATH-ANC7 headphones.
Scott is Tiffen DFX digital filters.

by Gavin Seim. Updated 01/2010:

Most of us use and love Adobe Lightroom. One of my favorite features is presets. One click WOW & workflow for our photo’s. I even make some very popular preset collections that I sell over on Seim Effects.

So there’s a couple of ways to install Lightroom presets and today I’m gonna show you both, including the guru method. I’m talking about develop presets, but it should be noted that these methods are essentially the same with any user preset, such as print presets, gallery presets etc. If your installing brush presets see this article. Also, I’m using a Mac, but the same process will work on Windows.

How to install lightroom presets
Start by going into the Develop Module (shortcut D) On the left panel you'll see your presets.

UPDATED 07/11:
As a photographer I prefer the RAW file format. I find I can get more flexibility in post production, more dynamic range and ultimately a better image quality with less hassle. Having said that, there are plenty of great JPEG photographers.

What’s It All About:

This article is not so much about the which format is better. We’ll save that for another day. The situation in question is editing images in speedy workflow programs such as Lightroom. Lightroom has revolutionized photo workflow because it’s fast and batches are a snap using Develop Presets.

Presets allow you to add effects and settings to images with a single click, or even apply them to countless of images. This is priceless when it comes to a photographers creative workflow. Also this type of editing is non destructive to the photo, meaning that you can make edits, and reset them to original at any time.
