by Gavin Seim: Lightroom is great, but on those really special images that I want perfect nothing compares to what I can do with Photoshop and actions. They make me creative and save me loads of time. No matter how into Lightroom, Aperture ect you are, you should have some actions in your arsenal for those special images.

This video takes it from the beginning with installing actions, all the way to tips how to leverage them. I use my own actions (you can find them in the menu above) but these principles work with most actions you’ll find. If the video is not showing here’s the direct You Tube link. It’s no secret that photographers are sometimes treated as criminals for doing nothing more than taking pictures. This video will make you laugh, as well as make photographer criminalization look pretty stupid.

It’s about Duane Kerzik, who was arrested for taking pictures at Penn station. For their photo contest no less. I’m glad I’m not on the PR team for Amtrak, because it looks like their on a one way rail to stupidity. I could say more, but instead, just watch the video.

The D3X is here. I don’t wanna get into the global politics of it all, but I felt this was worth reporting on.  While I’m a Canon guy, I think Nikon makes great systems. Still, the cost of the D3X for what it offers… It does seem a bit spendy.

Frankly though I don’t blame Nikon for this outburst. I think the guy has way bigger problems. Enjoy

I wanted to post a free video from my up and coming Seim Effect video series.

Burn and dodge is one of those overlooked gems that can give you control over where viewer attention is drawn to in an image. Some people avoid vignettes, burns and dodges because they don’t realize how effective they can be.

I see images nearly every day that could be twice as good with a little B&D Love. This is just as important with HDR images ass well ad they tend to be a bit flat in their natural state. Here’s a Seim Effects video on the topic. It’s slightly cheesy, but a good look at how I leverage B&D. Click the link to get the free High Res version.
